  • Where can i take a parenting class?

lol this is my second pregnancy and i dont really need this class ...but i think they are fun and something that me and my hubby could do together. any ideas about how to get into one? how much they cost? when should i start going (at how many weeks)?? thanks so muchWhere can i take a parenting class?
It depends a lot on what kind of birth experience you want to have. If you plan on doing things more medically, then a class at the hospital would be fine. There is also, Lamaze, Bradley, and Hypnobirthing classes. The latter of the three most emphasizes a natural and almost pain free birth. If you are interested in that, I would do some research into it. It's a way to have your baby will little or no discomfort at all, and while completely relaxed. It's also really good for bonding with your husband.

It seems like classes in general run from $50-250. You can take it as early in the pregnancy as you want. So I would pick the child birth method you want, then do a google search for your area and that method to find a local teacher/practitioner. Also check with the hospital and/or the city parks and rec.Where can i take a parenting class?
the hospital that you plan on delivering in will most likely have a parenting class. I went to my hospital and took a Lamaze class and noticed they had a whole list of different classes that you can take. Most of the classes run between $50-150, depending on the length of the class.

I am not sure when you should begin a parenting class but I know for the Lamaze the recommended before you hit 32 weeks to start the class.
I took them at the hospital I had my son at.They offered them to every pregnant woman there. You could check at your local hospital. They also do them at high schools for soon to be parents or already parents %26amp; students at the school.
Ask the hospital where your giving birth or your obgyn, They can give you a referral. My hospital Im going to give birth offers programs there and usually cost around 100$ per pair.
You normally sign up for them through the hospital that you're going to. Typically insurance covers them. If not they aren't very expensive at all. $20.00-$60.00. Sign up at any time during your pregnancy.

I need help with early parenting?

What type of early parenting fosters the development of emotional self-regulation, attachment, and self control? Why? I need help with early parenting?
I believe in allowing your child as much physical freedom as possible but at the same time communicating the limits you/your partner decide upon in a very clear and firm tone. Do not leave room for ambiguity. By setting the grounds you are teaching your child to respect themselves and respect you. I read very little on this topic because I wanted to follow my instincts as a mother, however, '; Your Self-Confident Baby'; by Gerber gave some sound advice on this topic. How old is your child(ren)?

What is your philosophy of parenting?

What are do you believe are the rights and responsibilities of parents and children?

I would love your input. thanks What is your philosophy of parenting?
I believe that respect is a two way street. If I want my child to respect me, I have to respect them.

I believe in tough love. I hated it growing up, but I think constantly codling our children and bailing them out every time they are in trouble only shows them that the rules dont apply to them. That it doesnt matter what they do, someone else will fix it. Sooner or later they have to learn how to deal with their own problems themselves.

I like the montessori approach to learning.

What is your philosophy of parenting?
I had a strict scillian father, a 4 part plan, the explanation, the look, the

the voice, and if all else failed, the spanking, not a beaten, but trust me

he got his point across . . .

Only once it got to the spanking, and i must admit, i realy deserved it

and i'm thankful for it to this day . . .

    1. the explaintion = son, let me telll you why it wouldn't be a good

idea to do what your thinking of doing, and then he'd ask in a calm and

inquisitive manner, can you tell me why you want to do these things,

go ahead, i'm listening and i won't get mad, and don't leave nothing

out, and when i did, then he'd ask and how does that make you feel?

and what will you realy accomplish by such waistfull hurtful deeds?.

    2. The look, i'm sure you all heard the saying, if looks could kill, guess

    who they coined it for?

    3. The voice, a capice? or if you used street italian, a ga,bi,ed?

tranlated, ';YOU UNDERSTAND ';? and some time he'd throw in #2

as a bonus, believe me, you understood . . .

Ah! and of course #4, for the time's i was a wiseguy and pretended not

    to understand . . .

as for my own kids? , just repeat the process, someone once told me,

i was to over protective of my kids, i simply a got milk carton from the

fridge, and ask'ed what was missing from the milk carton, after a min or

two and a blank stair, i simply told them, my kids picture on it, that

    usualy shut them up . . .
I belive my responsibility as a parent is to love them, and take care of them their ENTIRE life and to provide for them until on there own and then still may have to help provide a little....
    Biblical training and love.

Any good websites for parenting emotional children whose younger siblings seem to steal the spotlight?

Wish I could help you to the degree you need, but if your willing to put those google skillz to the test, a good place to start as far as child development go is to do a search for good old Anne Frued, yep Sigmonds daughter!!! She did A BUTCH for our understanding of child development (hint: she conflicted with her father so much, she redefined it! Yep! Little known fact) and ways of helping to take care of them. But I gaurenttee you that if you go down her path you'll find what you need..... it comes down to communication one way or another, but gives you techniques and things to consider, they are kiddos!

Does anyone have any recommendations for any websites/books that offer parenting advice for kids with sp need?

I have a 2and ahalf year old son with Autism and I need help finding advice to help with things like getting him to use a sippy cup and potty training and getting him to chew solid foods(he still eats baby food) Any body Know of any good Books, magazines or websites? Any answers are greatly appreciated. ThanksDoes anyone have any recommendations for any websites/books that offer parenting advice for kids with sp need?
You should find some good resources here:

    http://www.autism-society.org/site/PageS鈥?/a>

Also, try to find other people with kids who have Autism, either in your community or that you can talk to on-line. They will have good advice of things that are working for them, plus it will be nice to have someone to talk to who understands exactly what challenges, and joys, you are going through. Type ';autism support groups'; into yahoo or google search engines.Does anyone have any recommendations for any websites/books that offer parenting advice for kids with sp need?

there are several of each out there. the best bet would be to go to your local library and check their card catalog, or you can contact Childrens Mercy Hospital the librarian there will send you a resource list. Is your son receiving services? if he is ask the therapists for their recommendations both on how to do these things and on the books. If he is not you need to get them for him so that he and you have the help you both need. good luck and check autism-pdd message boards they are full of great advice.

Has anyone joined a parenting forum?

I found this site www.socialmommies.com they are new but seem really cool. What do you think?Has anyone joined a parenting forum?
i have and i have met two moms already, the forum i go to is local to my area, so there are opportunities to actually meet other parents.

i've gotten quite involved with scvalleymommies.com, perhaps and i think they could be ran by the same network.

The Mommies Network.Has anyone joined a parenting forum?
There are loads of parenting sites, such as Minti, Maya's Mom, Baby Centre, etc. I believe Disney also came out with one earlier this year?

    My favorite is Minti.com though.
